This article explains the manual steps for uploading a file to SFTP. However, we recommend having a developer create a script to automate recurring uploads.
What is FileZilla
FileZilla is a free program that helps you move files between your computer and another computer or server over the internet. It works like a digital courier service, making it easy to send and receive files.
What is SFTP
SFTP stands for Secure File Transfer Protocol. It's a safe way to transfer files because it encrypts (scrambles) the data while it's being sent, so only the intended recipient can read it. This makes it much more secure than simply sending files without protection.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure you have the following:
SFTP Credentials: Obtain your SFTP server address, username, password, and port (commonly port 22) from your BillyGrace account.
FileZilla Client: Download and install FileZilla from FileZilla Project.
Set up your import
In the first step, you'll define what type of data you want to import and how you'll send it to us.
Name your import
Give your import a clear, recognizable name and a short description.
Choose your data type
Select one of the following data schemas based on what you’re importing:
TV / Radio Data – For offline media campaigns like TV or radio.
Online Media Data – For online media sources not natively supported by Billy Grace.
Offsite conversions – Events that don't happen on your website with Billy Grace.
Order Data – By syncing order data you will get extra metrics, such as new- and returning customers.

Connecting to SFTP
1. Find SFTP Credentials
Login into your BillyGrace account
Navigate to Management → Settings → Import Custom data

2. Connecting to BillyGrace SFTP Using FileZilla
Step 1: Launch FileZilla
Open the FileZilla application on your computer.
Step 2: Open Site Manager
Navigate to the File menu and select Site Manager.
Step 3: Create a New Site Entry
Click the New Site button.
Name the site (e.g., “BillyGrace”).
Step 4: Enter Connection Details
Host: ftp.billypx.com
Port: 22
Protocol: Select SFTP – SSH File Transfer Protocol.
Logon Type: Normal
User: Enter your SFTP Username from BillyGrace website.
Password: Enter your SFTP Password from BillyGrace website
Step 5: Connect to the Server
Click Connect.
If prompted with a security alert regarding the server’s fingerprint, verify the fingerprint with your administrator and click OK if it is correct.
3. Sharing Data Using FileZilla
Uploading Files
Select Local Files: On the left pane, locate the files on your computer that you want to share.
Select the file: Select the the file you want to send to BillyGrace
Upload the file: Right click on the file and click on upload
Verify Upload: Confirm that all files have been successfully transferred by checking file sizes and timestamps.
