Indeed API Cost protection

How we protect your indeed API Costs

Written by Stijn Bugter

Our commitment

Indeed charges for some of the data we collect on your behalf. That's just how their API works. This article explains, in plain terms, how we make sure that never turns into a surprise on your bill.

What we look at

Before we collect anything, we look at two things Indeed shows us for free:

  1. Your monthly allowance: how many data requests your account is allowed each month.

  2. Your ad spend: how much you're already spending on Indeed ads this month.

Checking these costs nothing, so we check them all the time and let them guide every decision.

How we protect you

  1. We only collect data when it's worth it.
    If an account isn't actually running ads, we leave it alone. You're never charged to collect data for an account that isn't advertising.

  2. We stop at half your allowance.
    Once we've used 50% of your monthly allowance, we stop. The other half always stays free for you.

  3. We're extra careful the first time.
    The very first collection is bigger than usual, so we're even more cautious and cap it at just 30% of your allowance.

The best part

We check all of this BEFORE we do anything, not after. So there's nothing to catch too late; we simply don't take a step that would cross a line.

And the two things that set the limits, your allowance and your ad spend, are controlled by you and Indeed, not us. We just stay comfortably inside them.

In short

Any cost from our data collection is:

  • Only ever incurred on accounts you are already actively advertising on;

  • Capped at half of your monthly allowance;

  • Always kept below your own ad spend;

  • Governed entirely by limits that you control.

The system is designed so that you, not our data collection, are always the one in control of the cost.
