Realtime

See what's happening on your site right now, from visitors to conversions.

Written by Lily Mineur

The Realtime dashboard shows you live activity on your website as it happens, so you can react quickly to campaigns, launches, or traffic spikes instead of waiting for the next daily report.

Get started

Navigate to Realtime in the left-hand navigation

Data is refreshed automatically every 60 seconds. You do not need to reload the page.

At the top of the page, two dropdowns control everything below them:

  • Range: sets the time window for all data on the page (e.g. Last 30 minutes)

  • Goal: sets which conversion goal is tracked in the Orders, Revenue, and Conversion Rate metrics (e.g. purchase)

The dashboard has two tabs: Overview and Page activity.

Overview

The Overview tab gives you a live snapshot of visitors, conversions, where they are based, and which channel they're coming from. At the top, four metric cards show:

  • Visitors: number of visitors in the selected range, with a trend line and a comparison to the previous time window

  • Orders: number of conversions for the selected goal

  • Revenue: revenue generated from those conversions

  • Conversion Rate (CVR): the percentage of visitors who converted

Below the metric cards, a live map shows where your visitors are located right now, with bubble size representing visitor volume.

The Top countries panel lists the countries sending the most visitors, and the Last 20 conversions feed shows your most recent conversions as they come in, including value, location, channel, and device.

Further down, the Number of events chart plots event volume over the selected time range, and the Top Sources table breaks down visitors, orders, and revenue by traffic source (e.g. Google, Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube, email).

Page activity

Click the Page activity tab to see which pages are getting attention right now.

The same metric cards (Visitors, Orders, Revenue, Conversion Rate) appear on this tab too, and still reflect the range and goal selected at the top of the page.

The Top Pages table shows:

  • Page: the URL path visited

  • Visitors: number of unique visitors on that page in the selected range

  • Pageviews: total number of times the page was viewed

  • Avg Time: average time visitors spent on the page

  • Bounce: percentage of visitors who left without further interaction

Why use Realtime?

Realtime helps you to:

  • React quickly to live traffic spikes from campaigns, launches, or promotions

  • See exactly where conversions are coming from as they happen: country, source, and device

  • Spot which pages are capturing attention right now, so you can act while it's still relevant

Good to know

  • Orders and Revenue can show €0 during quiet periods.
If no conversions have happened yet in the selected range, this doesn't mean tracking is broken.

  • Revenue can show €0 on some Shopify setups.
In some Shopify integrations, the custom event doesn't send the order revenue, revenue is instead retrieved from the backend afterwards. This can cause Revenue to show €0 in Realtime even though the order came through; it will reflect correctly once the backend data is processed.

  • In 'Top Pages' some visitors are live on 'Unknown'.
This happens when the hit didn't pass the page for that visit, so we don't have the information needed to determine where the visitor came from.
