How to install the Pixel?

Read the introduction to the Billy Pixel article to learn more about the Billy Pixel.

In this guide, different ways of installing the Pixel are described. The installation for Shopify stores is different from that for e-commerce, B2B, and B2C.

Please note that Shopify can never be implemented in Google Tag Manager. For Shopify stores, please follow the steps here.

The pixel is unique for every client. The pixel per client can be copied and pasted from Settings -> Billy Pixel in your Billy Grace account.

Installation via Google Tag Manager

Follow the step-by-step explanation or watch the instruction video.

First, navigate to Google Tag Manager to import the Billy Grace configuration templates. In GTM navigate to Templates -> Search Gallery

In the Gallery, search for 'billy grace' and add both templates to your workspace.

Click on one of the templates and click on "Add to workspace." On the next step, click on "Add."

The Configuration Web Pixel templates must be added to the header of your website. This can be done by creating a new tag in Google Tag Manager. First, you need to create a trigger for a Pageview on All pages level. It could be that you already have this in your Google Tag Manager; in that case, you don't have to follow the first step.

Trigger

Add a new Trigger in Tag Manager by navigating to Triggers and clicking on New.

Give the trigger a name, for example: All Pages - Pageview, and click on Trigger Configuration

Select Page view and then click on Save.

We will add a new tag for the Pixel to load on every page of the website. Go to Tags and click on New.

Select the Billy Grace - Configuration Web Pixel template and paste the Pixel Snippet from the Billy Grace Pixel page:

Next step is to add the tracking ID from Billy Grace into the tag:

You can find the ID on the Pixel Snippet page.

Now add the Pageview - all pages trigger to the tag. The Tag will look like this:

Next, click on Save. To finish the installation, you have to publish the changes to the live website.

The Pixel is now installed and will start to receive the first data the next day. If you have installed the Pixel via Google Tag Manager, you will need to configure Custom Events. Read more about Custom Events here.
