How to install the Pixel?

Read the introduction to the Billy Pixel article to learn more about the Billy Pixel.

In this guide, different ways of installing the Pixel are described. The installation for Shopify stores (not headless*) is different from e-commerce, B2B, B2C and Shopify headless stores. In these cases, the installation is done via Google Tag Manager.

*Headless stands for a Shopify store that has a different front-end or different backend than a default Shopify store.

The pixel is unique for every client. The pixel per client can be copy and pasted from Settings -> Billy Pixel in your Billy Grace account.

Installation for Shopify stores

The pixel needs to be placed as a Custom Event in Shopify settings. Follow the steps or watch the how-to video.

1. Create a Customer Event.

  • Copy the pixel snippet (The snippet can be copied inside the app - Settings - Pixel) and log into your Shopify account.

  • Go to: /Admin and navigate to Settings - Customer Events

  • Click on add Custom Pixel

  • As name fill in Billy Grace Pixel and click on add pixel

  • Paste the Pixel inside the code block

  • First click on Save in the top right corner of the screen and then click on Connect

The Pixel is now installed and will start to receive the first data soon.

Installation via Google Tag Manager

Follow the step-by-step explanation or watch the instruction video.

First navigate to app.billygrace.com - Settings - Billy Grace Pixel

Here, the Pixel is displayed. You can copy the snippet by clicking the copy button in the right corner of the snippet.

This snippet must be added to the header of your website. This can be done via Google Tag Manager. First, you need to create a trigger for a Pageview on All pages level. (it could be that you already have this in your Google Tag Manager, in that case you don't have to follow the first step).

Trigger

Add a new Trigger in Tag Manager by navigating to Triggers and clicking on New.

Give the trigger a name, for example: All Pages - Pageview and click on Trigger Configuration

Select Page view and then click on Save.

We will add a new tag for the Pixel to load on every page of the website. Go to Tags and click on New.

Now click on Triggering and add the All Pages - Pageview trigger. The Tag will look like this:

Next, click on Save. To finish the installation, you have to submit the changes to the live website.

The Pixel is now installed and will start to receive the first data soon. If you have installed the Pixel via Google Tag Manager, you will need to configure Custom Events. Read more about Custom Events here.
